أجرت كلية التقنيات الأحيائية في جامعة النهرين دراسة علمية ضمن رسالة ماجستير للطالب بلال ماجد سعيد تحت إشراف الأستاذ الدكتور حميد مجيد جاسم والأستاذ الدكتورة مها حميد عبد الله، تناولت انتشار جينات مقاومة المضادات الحيوية في بكتيريا Pseudomonas aeruginosa، خاصة تلك المتعلقة بعائلة β-Lactams.   تم عزل وتشخيص 148 عينة سريرية، حيث أظهرت النتائج أن معظم الإصابات كانت في عينات الحروق. وكشفت الفحوصات الجزيئية أن هذه البكتيريا تحمل جينات مقاومة مهمة مثل؛ IMP-1, IMP-2, SPM, GIM-1، مما يعكس معدلات مرتفعة للمقاومة ويبرز التحديات التي تواجه القطاع الطبي في علاج العدوى المرتبطة بهذه البكتيريا.   تعد هذه الدراسة مساهمة علمية نوعية تسلط الضوء على خطورة مقاومة المضادات الحيوية، داعيةً إلى ضرورة تعزيز الجهود البحثية لمواجهة هذه الظاهرة المتفاقمة. College of Biotechnology - Al-Nahrain University Unveils the Spread of Resistance Genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa   The College of Biotechnology at Al-Nahrain University conducted a scientific study as part of a master’s thesis by student Bilal Majid Saeed, supervised by Prof. Dr. Hamid Majid Jassim and Prof. Dr. Maha Hamid Abdullah. The study focused on the spread of antibiotic resistance genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, particularly those related to the β-Lactam family.   A total of 148 clinical samples were isolated and identified, with results showing that most infections were found in burn samples. Molecular tests revealed that these bacteria carry significant resistance genes, such as IMP-1, IMP-2, SPM, and GIM-1, indicating high resistance rates and underscoring the challenges faced by the medical sector in treating infections caused by this bacterium.   This study represents a significant scientific contribution, highlighting the severity of antibiotic resistance and calling for intensified research efforts to combat this growing phenomenon.

ناقش قسم الرياضيات وتطبيقات الحاسوب في كلية العلوم بجامعة النهرين رسالة الماجستير المقدمة من الباحثة أسمهان إسماعيل عبدالحسين، بعنوان “طريقة التقريب لحل مسألة القيمة الحدية المتحركة والحرة الضبابية”.

ركزت الرسالة على دراسة مشاكل القيم الحدودية ذات الأسطح المتحركة والضبابية، استعرضت الباحثة معادلات التفاضل الجزئي، بما في ذلك معادلة الحرارة، وصاغت نماذج رياضية وفيزيائية لمسألتين رئيسيتين: مشكلة حوض المحيط الرسوبي الساحلي وانتشار الأكسجين في الأوساط المختلفة.

Al-Nahrain Sciences Discusses Fuzzy Boundary Values Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications in   College of Science of   Al-Nahrain University discusses a  master dissertation  presented  by   a researcher ,Asmahan Ismail Abdel-Hussein  entitled  An Approximation Method for Solving The Moving and Free-Fuzzy Boundary Value Problem .   The dissertation  focuses on studying boundary values problems with moving and fuzzy surfaces. The researcher reviews partial differential equations including the heat equation and formulates mathematical and physical models for two main problems: The problem of the coastal sedimentary ocean basin and the diffusion of oxygen in different places.     The dissertation uses mathematical techniques and software  such as Mathcad 15 and Mathcad Prim to calculate approximate solutions and numerical results focusing  on processing imprecise data using trigonometric fuzzy numbers. ناقشت الباحثة سارة باسل فوزي في قسم الكيمياء رسالتها للماجستير الموسومة “تثبيت فعال للغاية لأفلام البولي فينيل كلورايد باستخدام معقدات مضافة من أوميبرازول والقصدير” تحت إشراف الأستاذ الدكتور عماد السراج.

تناولت الرسالة تحضير مركبات جديدة مشتقة من القصدير العضوي ودراسة تأثيرها على تثبيت البوليمرات التجارية المستخدمة في التطبيقات الخارجية ضد الأشعة فوق البنفسجية.

أظهرت الدراسة أن هذه المركبات تمتاز بكفاءة عالية في تحسين استقرار البوليمرات عند تعرضها لأشعة الشمس، مما يطيل عمرها الافتراضي ويعزز من مقاومتها، مما يجعلها ذات أهمية كبيرة في تطوير مواد أكثر استدامة لتطبيقات البيئة الخارجية.

Al-Nahrain Science  Discusses The Development of Effective Compounds to Stabilize Polymers Against Ultraviolet Rays

 

A researcher, Sarah Basil Fawzi in the Department of Chemistry discusses her master dissertation  entitled  Highly Effective Stabilization of Polyvinyl Chloride Films Using Additive Complexes of Omeprazole and Tin  under the supervision of Pro.Dr. Imad Al-Sarraj.

 

The dissertation  deals  with the preparation of new compounds which are derived from organic tin and the study of their effect on stabilizing commercial polymers that are used in outdoor applications against ultraviolet rays.

The study explains that these compounds are  characterized as highly efficient in improving the stability of polymers when they are  exposed to sunlight, which extends their lifespan and enhances their resistance  making them   more important  in developing more sustainable materials for external environmental applications.

نظمت كلية الحقوق في جامعة النهرين، ورشة عمل بعنوان “مصطلح الجندر ودلالاته الاجتماعية وبدائله”، ألقاها الدكتور أنور شناوي ذياب، بمشاركة عدد من أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والطلاب. تناولت الورشة مواضيع هامة تهدف إلى تعزيز الفهم الصحيح للمصطلحات الاجتماعية وتأثيراتها في المجتمع.

تضمنت الورشة محورين رئيسيين، حيث تم في المحور الأول التعريف بالمجمع العلمي

العراقي وجهوده في تعريب المصطلحات العلمية، وأوضح الدكتور شناوي أهمية تلك الجهود في تطوير وتبسيط المصطلحات بما يتناسب مع القيم والمفاهيم الاجتماعية للمجتمع العراقي.

أما في المحور الثاني، فقد تم مناقشة دلالات استعمال مصطلحي “الجندر” و”النوع الاجتماعي”، مع التأكيد على أهمية الحذر من ترويج الأفكار الغريبة عن مجتمعنا من خلال استخدام مصطلحات قد تحمل دلالات تخالف الآداب العامة وتقاليد المجتمع. كما تم عرض نماذج من استعمال هذه المصطلحات في المخاطبات الرسمية والقوانين، مع ذكر البدائل المقترحة لاستعمالها بما يتناسب مع القيم الاجتماعية.

Al-Nahrain  Law Organizes a Workshop on  The Term Gender, Its Social Connotations and Alternatives

 

College  of Law in Al-Nahrain University organizes  a workshop entitled  The term Gender, Its social Connotations and Alternatives which is presented  by Dr. Anwar Shinawi Dhiyab with the participation of a number of teaching staff and students. The workshop addresses important topics which are aimed for  enhancing the correct understanding of social terminologies and their  effects on society.

The workshop included two main themes. At the first one, they introduce the Iraqi Scientific Academy and its efforts to transliterate scientific terminologies. Dr. Shinawi  explains  the importance of these efforts in developing and simplifying terminologies in a way that is consistent with the values ​​and social concepts of Iraqi society.

 

At the second one, the connotations  of the use of the terms  gender  and type are discussed  emphasizing the importance of caution of promoting ideas that are foreign to our society through the use of terms that may carry connotations that violate public morals and   traditions of the society . Examples of the use of these terms in official correspondence and laws are   presented with mentioning suggested alternatives for using them in a manner consistent with social values.

  تفقد معالي وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي الدكتور نعيم العبودي البنى التحتية والمرافق الأكاديمية في جامعة النهرين، وذلك خلال جولة ميدانية شملت عددًا من المباني والمشاريع الجديدة التي تسهم في تعزيز البيئة التعليمية للجامعة.   رافق معالي الوزير في جولته الأستاذ الدكتور علي عبد العزيز الشاوي، رئيس الجامعة،  والسادة مساعدي رئيس الجامعة وعدد من عمداء الكليات. واطلع معاليه على مبنى كلية اقتصاديات الأعمال الجديد، الذي صُمم وفق معايير حديثة ليوفر بيئة تعليمية متطورة، ودار الضيافة الذي يعكس مستوى التنظيم والضيافة المتقدم في الجامعة. كما تضمنت الجولة زيارة كلية الهندسة وكلية العلوم السياسية، حيث اطلع على القاعات الدراسية والمختبرات العلمية التي تُعد من أهم عوامل دعم الطلبة في تحقيق أهدافهم الأكاديمية.   وأشاد وزير التعليم بمستوى التطوير الحاصل في البنى التحتية للجامعة، مشيراً إلى أهمية توفير مرافق تعليمية حديثة تلبي متطلبات الطلبة وتسهم في رفع جودة التعليم العالي. كما أثنى على الجهود المبذولة في تنفيذ المشاريع، التي تجسد حرص الجامعة على تحقيق التكامل بين الجانب العلمي والخدمي، بما يتماشى مع خطط وزارة التعليم العالي.   وأكد معاليه على استمرار دعم الوزارة لمثل هذه المشاريع الطموحة، داعياً الجامعات الأخرى إلى الاستفادة من تجربة جامعة النهرين في التطوير والتحديث. واختتم جولته بالتأكيد على أهمية الاستمرار في تعزيز البنى التحتية التي تمثل ركيزة أساسية للارتقاء بالعملية التعليمية في العراق. The Minister of Higher Education Inspects Infrastructure and Lecture Halls at Al-Nahrain University   The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, inspected the infrastructure and academic facilities at Al-Nahrain University during a field visit that included several buildings and new projects aimed at enhancing the university’s educational environment.   Accompanying the Minister were Prof. Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Shawi, President of the University, along with the university’s vice presidents and several college deans. The visit included a tour of the new College of Business Economics building, designed to meet modern standards and provide an advanced educational environment, and the guest house, which reflects the university’s high level of organization and hospitality. The tour also included visits to the College of Engineering and the College of Political Science, where the Minister inspected lecture halls and scientific laboratories, key components in supporting students’ academic goals.   The Minister commended the university’s progress in infrastructure development, highlighting the importance of providing modern educational facilities that meet students’ needs and improve the quality of higher education. He also praised the efforts invested in implementing projects that demonstrate the university’s commitment to integrating academic and service excellence, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s strategic plans.   The Minister affirmed the Ministry’s continued support for such ambitious projects, encouraging other universities to benefit from Al-Nahrain University’s experience in modernization and development. The agreement aims to facilitate the administration of the IELTS exam for English language proficiency and the MRCP exam for internal medicine, utilizing the college’s modern language laboratories.   The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Jumaa Salman Jiyad, a representative of the British Council, and several department heads and faculty members.   This agreement marks a significant milestone in supporting students to obtain internationally recognized certifications, thereby improving their academic and professional prospects. The workshop addresses several topics, most notably the skills required in the electronic payment sector and the opportunities and challenges in the banking sector. The workshop aims for learning students about the most important opportunities available in the financial technology and electronic payment sector. نظمت كلية اقتصاديات الأعمال في جامعة النهرين ندوة علمية بعنوان “تأثير التغيرات المناخية على التنمية المستدامة: العراق أنموذجًا”، بحضور عميدة الكلية الأستاذة الدكتورة نغم حسين نعمة، وعدد من تدريسيي القسم وطلبة الكلية

قدّم المحاضرة الأستاذ الدكتور نوزاد عبد الرحمن الهيتي، أستاذ الاقتصاد السياسي في المعهد الدبلوماسي ومعهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا، حيث استعرض تفسيرًا مفصلًا للتغيرات المناخية التي تُعد أحد أبرز التحديات التي تواجه تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة على المستوى المحلي والعالمي.

ركزت الندوة على تسليط الضوء على التطورات المعاصرة في مجال التنمية الاقتصادية، بما في ذلك تأثير التباين في درجات الحرارة. وأوضحت أن تغير المناخ لا يقتصر تأثيره على القطاع الزراعي، بل يمتد ليشمل حقوق الإنسان الأساسية، مما يضعف إمكانات التنمية الاقتصادية ويؤثر سلبًا على تحقيق الاستدامة الشاملة.

 

  Al-Nahrain University Organizes a Symposium on the Impact of Climate Changes  on Sustainable Development       College of Business Economics in Al-Nahrain University organizes a scientific symposium entitled  The Impact of Climate Changes on Sustainable Development: Iraq as a Model  with the attendance of Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Nagham Hussein Nimah, a number of department instructors and college students.                                                                           Prof.Dr. Nawzad Abdul Rahman Al-Hiti, Professor of Political Economy in the Diplomatic Institute and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, presents the lecture about a detailed explanation of climate change, which is one of the most prominent challenges facing achieving the sustainable development goals at the local and global levels.     This symposium focuses on shedding light  contemporary developments in the field of economic development  including the impact of temperature variation. This meeting comes within the framework of activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two universities.   The meeting, organized by the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at Al-Nahrain University, addressed several key topics aimed at promoting academic and cultural cooperation. These included the exchange of master’s theses, electronic links, administrative exchanges, and launching a joint reading competition.   The meeting was attended by several officials from both sides, including the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, the Director of the Quality Assurance Department, and the Director of the Central Library from Al-Nahrain University, along with the Assistant President of Al-Balqa University for International Cooperation and the Director of its Central Library.   The two parties discussed ways to develop research collaboration and strengthen communication between the central libraries, aiming to achieve their mutual goals of supporting scientific research and enhancing shared academic experiences.

شاركت التدريسية في كلية التقنيات الأحيائية بجامعة النهرين، الدكتورة ميس طالب عبدالله، في فعاليات النسخة الأولى من مؤتمر Best of ESMO IRAQ الذي أقيم في مدينة البصرة يومي 28 و29 تشرين الثاني 2024، بحضور نخبة من المتخصصين في الأورام والأشعة العلاجية والطب النووي من داخل العراق وخارجه.

جاءت المشاركة في بحثًا علميًا بعنوان:

“تقييم مستويات التعبير miRNA-10b كمقدمة محتملة لورم خبيث في سرطان الثدي الموضعي والمتقدم محليًا / النقيلي بين المرضى العراقيين”.

تناول البحث دراسة تعبير الجين miRNA-10b كعامل مسبب للسرطان ومؤشر حيوي لتشخيص سرطان الثدي بمراحله المختلفة، مستندًا إلى تحليل عينات دم ونسيج من 150 مريضة عراقية. وأظهرت النتائج زيادة ملحوظة في التعبير الجيني لهذا الجزيء، خصوصًا في حالات السرطان النقيلي، مع ارتباطه بنتائج سلبية على صعيد البقاء دون نقائل بعيدة.

 

  An Instructor from Al-Nahrain University participates in the Best of ESMO IRAQ Conference in Basra     An  instructor  of   College of Biotechnology in  Al-Nahrain University, Dr. Mays Talib Abdullah, participates  in the activities of the first edition of the Best of ESMO IRAQ Conference, which is  held in the city of Basra on November 28 and 29, 2024with the attendance  of an  elite group of specialists in oncology, therapeutic radiation, and nuclear medicine from inside and outside Iraq.    She participates in this conference by presenting  her    scientific research entitled:Evaluation of miRNA-10b expression levels as a potential precursor to metastasis in   localized and    advanced/metastatic breast cancer among Iraqi patients.   The research implies the study of   expression of the gene miRNA-10b as a cancer-causing factor and a biomarker for diagnosing breast cancer at its various stages  basing  on the analysis of blood and tissue samples from 150 Iraqi patients.   ناقش قسم الهندسة الكيميائية بكلية الهندسة جامعة النهرين أطروحة الدكتوراه للطالب علاء جاسم عوض بعنوان “ازمرة الهكسان التحفيزية باستخدام محفز نانوي ثنائي الوظيفة لرفع عدد الأوكتان لوقود الكازولين”.   هدفت الدراسة إلى تطوير محفزات نانوية ثنائية الوظيفة تعتمد على حمض التنغستوفوسفوريك والبلاتين المحمل على أكاسيد معدنية (Nb2O5 وAl2O3 وTiO2) لتحسين كفاءة إيزومرة الهكسان.    أظهرت النتائج أن المحفز Pt/TPA/Nb2O5 حقق كفاءة إيزومرية بنسبة 51% بفضل خصائصه البنيوية والحموضة المناسبة، وتُعد هذه النتائج خطوة مهمة في تطوير تقنيات صديقة للبيئة لتحسين جودة وقود الكازولين.     Al-Nahrain Engineering Discusses Developing Catalysts to Improve GasolineFuel   Department of Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University discusses the   Phd  thesis by student Alaa Jassim Awad entitled  Catalytic Isomerization of Hexane Using a Bi-functional Nanocatalyst to Raise the Octane Number of Gasoline Fuel.” The study aims for  developing  bifunctional nanocatalysts which are based on tungstenophosphoric acid and platinum loaded on metal oxides (Nb2O5, Al2O3, and TiO2) to improve the efficiency of hexane isomerization. The results shows that the Pt/TPA/Nb2O5 catalyst achieves an isomerization efficiency of 51% through its suitable structural properties and acidity. The seminar discussesthe increasing challenges posed by technological development, as someone  exploits this technology in illegal ways to achieve financial  gains or achieve other illegal goals. It focuses   on blackmail methods via social media sites by exploiting personal information, photos and videos  and threatening victims to publish or use them. To force them to meet illegal demands.
